Hola mi gente,
I'm really grateful you took the time to navigate this site that I have created with love. The intention is to show all of my work as a developer, spokesperson, filmmaker, and photographer. I do what I do because I seek to reach the Great Perhaps. It was something I read when I was little and it stuck with me. Through my journey of ups and downs, I have learned three things I would like to share with you:
Failure is uncomfortable but it shouldn't stop you from moving forward.
It is okay to mourn the time lost; it is normal. However, realize that you have gained a lot of skills along the way because of this.
Everything is an opportunity. You’re just not looking close enough.
Some people have the blessing of having a privileged life. That luck doesn’t fall in everybody’s lap. That’s how I learned that opportunity isn’t something you wait for but something you have to create yourself.
Live in the present.
This is something I fight against to this date. I focus so much on the future that I forget to enjoy the present and be appreciative.
En general, gracias otra vez y espero que esto les sirva para algo.
Angelik Laboy Torres has been programming since she had knowledge of what it was. Whether it was creating wearable technologies to detect stress levels or a non-invasive method to detect types of diabetes, Laboy found intrigue in discovering how to think outside the box. For these, she has been recognized with many allocates such as Intel Excellence in Computer Science, National Award Winner with NCWIT Aspirations in Computing, Yale Science & Engineering Association, Air Force, and the Organization of American States.
Simultaneously,a side of her was compelled in partaking in the creation of stories and their influence in shaping culture. Through directing creative projects in both live-action and XR, Laboy has showcased her talents across distinct film festivals, including Cannes Film Festival. Now at Dolby Laboratories, Angelik has found both sides merging as a Developer Advocate for the award-winning Dolby.io as they keep pushing the boundaries on high-quality media solutions.
My dad loves chess and when I was little he taught me everything he knew about it and took me to multiple competitions even though the minimum age for entry was 10 years old. I was nine when I won!
I am currently fluent in three languages: Spanish, English and French. But I am working on expanding my knowledge with Japanese, German and ASL.
This passion began when I was young so I self-taught by watching videos, reading, and studying movies.
I spent a lot of my time after school building wearable devices to help with health conditions like diabetes, colorblidness, or stress to help my family and community back home.
Always been a fan of discovering new artists on Spotify but recently I find it nerveracking picking up a vinyl and not knowing I would like it or not.
This is a new thing I have discovered and I find it really enjoyable. Whenever I travel I like to visit a vintage store and pick out a few Kodachrome films shot by strangers that lived there. That way I get a little glimpse of another life lived by other humans.
